About Inertia

Inertia is named after a boat. My daughter named it. An object in motion stays in motion unless something rubs — which turned out to describe the work better than I expected. Finding what’s rubbing is the job.

We’re a small shop that builds specific things

Twenty-some years of sales strategy and fractional leadership sit underneath this, which is why we start with what’s actually costing you money rather than with a feature list. The building came later, and it changed what we could do about the answer.

We’re still in the arena

We run fractional engagements alongside the builds. We’re not describing this from the outside — the CRM our own team works out of is something we built, because the ones we could buy were in the way. Every problem we solve for you, we’ve had some version of ourselves.

What we’re actually good at

Looking at a mess and finding the one thing that, if it went away, would change the shape of the whole week. Then building that thing properly. Those are two different skills and most shops only have one of them.

What we’re not

A dev shop. An agency. People who’ll build whatever you spec because you’re paying. If we think the thing you’re asking for won’t help, we’ll say so, and you can decide what to do with that.

How we’re built

Engineering, design, marketing execution, and delivery — staffed to the shape of each build. That’s deliberate. It’s how a capture-planning platform for engineering firms and an estimate tool for a one-man RV shop come out of the same shop without either one getting the other’s software.
